3 Values

This is a sample of what a three value swatch looks like. Any of the colours listed below can be ordered in this format.  There are three 1/8 yard pieces of wool.  The darkest value is dyed over a texture and the medium and lightest values are dyed over natural.  Three values are great for simple shading for flowers, fruit, leaves, animals and much more!

6 Values

This is a sample of what a six value swatch looks like.  Any of the colours listed below can be ordered in this format.  There are six 3" x 11" pieces of wool dyed over natural. Using six gradations of one colour allows you to bring your motif to life! Great for detailed shading for a realistic look for animals, leaves, fruit, flowers and so much more!

All wool is hand-dyed in house. All colours available in 3 or 6 values.
1/4,  1/2 or 1 yard quantities can be ordered of any of the individual light, medium or dark values below. 

Adobe Tile

Get busy hooking your mud hut and flower pots.  This is also great for animals, hair, straw and dirt. 

African Violets

As its name implies, this is perfect to the African Violets and all manner of garden lovelies.  Perfect for clothing and geometric style rugs. 

Amethyst

A jewel of a colour.  Soft and subtle.  It was used in the fabulous Egyptian design, A Bit Of Egypt. Lovely for grapes.   Distant mountains.  Lilac bushes and flowers.

Anjou Pear

Picture
One of my favorites and used for a lot of the kits I make in the shop.  Antique in its charm.  Makes for great pears, pineapples, apples but also lends itself to backgrounds and flowers perfectly.   Used for  the moon in Moonstruck Wanda.  I tried four other gold tones before landing on the perfect match to the dark tones in the rug.


Antique Gold

A rich gold, dripping with personality.  You can't go wrong with its presence in your rug.  Great for the sun, birds, lemons, daffodils, squash, pineapples, bananas, baskets, hair and all things happy.

Army Green

One of my favorite greens.  I like that it's antique tones are perfect for subdued palettes.  Lovely for grass and all kinds of foliage. 

Aubergine

Another name for Eggplant, Aubergine is a wonderful antique tone of purple.   this make a wonderful background or border, perfect for flowers, grapes and anything where a shot of deep purple is needed. 

Bittersweet

This might be called Bittersweet but it is really a love colour.   Used for straw, basketry, animal fur, hair, and crockery.


Blue Violet

Bold and beautiful.  For violet, lavender and other garden delights.  Clematis climbing along a fence.  Funky fish and dinosaurs. Jelly bean houses. 

Blue Willow

Ah Blue Willow.  This lovely blue has a tinge of violet for the pink undertone.   Great for blue and white dishes, skies and flowers. 

Blush

A sweet sixteen rosy cheek.  This beautiful warm undertone of pinks and rose would be lovely for any of natures perfect blossoms.

Buttercup

This is a wonderful yellow for those who favour brighter colours.  Good for anything to do with sunny days, buttercups, dandelions, lilies, sailboats, houses,  golden angel hair and all things happy. 


Chocolate Brown

A delightful brown.  This is perfect for animals, hair, ground, tree trunks, backgrounds and borders.

Copper Brown

This is a new colour and wow.  I love this rich coppery brown.  Perfect for teddy bears, Bambi backgrounds, hair, animal fur, backgrounds and borders.

Country Blue

Such a lovely antique sort of blue.  Cornflowers and garden gems. Less vibrant and very subtle.  For all your toned down projects.

Cranberry

Deep and rich this is the perfect holly berry, the poinsettia, the coat of a Father Christmas.  Rich and velvety, this wool makes the perfect apple coat in your cornucopia.


Crimson

A rich, deep, true red.  One of the primary colours that deserve a  notice.  Perfect for all things Christmas...where would Santa be with his red suit?   Lots of garden flowers, house paint, boats, geometric style rugs. 

Denim

A little softer than the navy.  I used this for beautiful lilies even though they don't exist in real life.  Artistic license right?  I like to match my decor and I love blue;  my house is full of blue and white.

Flamboyant

This new colour seemed to show off and therefore the name was born.  A must see, it has a uniqueness that stands out in the crowd.  Warm undertones.  Perfect for a garden palette of lilies and glads.   A sweet background for other floral designs.

Flamingo

Hot and wild.  What a lovely pink! Flamingos of course but let your imagination soar on this one.  Great for flowers and all things pink!


Flesh Tone

Don't know about anyone else, but this one looks exactly like the inside of my arm.   A porcelain skin tone. 

Ganache

This colour makes perfect rope borders.  See the Bluenose & Serpent rug in my pattern section.  Also great for baskets.

Garden Lily

A very soft orange, almost a sherbert.  Its name says it all but can be used for many flowers and fruits with an orange inclination.

Gneiss Brown

People ask why is this colour was named Gneiss  (pronounced "nice').  Well my husband is a geologist and when we came up with the formula and I asked his opinion for a name this was his pick.  It has the colour of a metaphoric rock.  Not a bad fit for wool that can be used to hook rocks!    Great for animals, hair, sand on a beach, roadways, tree trunks, pine cones and teddy bears.


Goldenrod

Garden flowers, sun, dories, house paint and hair.  More of an antique kind of gold for a subdued palette. 

Grape Green

A whisper of green.  Perfect for foliage and grasses.  Perfect choice for a pastel marriage with light lilacs, soft roses and lemon yellows.   Green being the most popular colour this one has unlimited possibilities.

A very deep grape for antique fruit motifs. Distant mountains.  Detail separation on black cats...lines to separate where the arms and legs meet the body.

Green With Envy

A new colour and wow!  A perfect compliment to Heart Red for Christmas themes.  It has a vibrancy but isn't too bright.  A rich green that is a must see. It's quickly becoming a favorite as we can't keep it on the shelf.

Harvest Pumpkin

Hook this wool's namesake and you can't go wrong.  Lovely six values of orange will bring your fruits alive. Perfect for lilies and all orange flowers.

Heart Red

A sophisticated red, with cool undertones.   The first choice of my customers for their red requirements.  A perfect match for Envy Green in Christmas decorations.  This red means business and likes to be noticed.

Irish Green

And a lovely colour it is.  Good for St. Patty's day so you don't pinched.  Works well with all the other greens for an array of garden leaves.


Jade

A gorgeous green.  Use for vibrant foliage, geometric style rugs, a rich green that blends beautifully with Jazzberry.

Jazzberry

A sexy pinkish red.   For pink flamingos,  deep pink peony flowers, roses, and any bright spot in your garden.   Jelly bean houses and funky, fun filled rugs.  

Jet Black

Out blackest black that goes to a medium to dark grey.

Jewel of the Nile

I love this jewel tone colour.  It reminds me of the exciting jewel toned colour in crayon boxes as a child.  


Khaki

Khaki green for a subdued leaf or army fatigue.  This is a softer green but  rich with character.

Lavender

A lovely colour for garden beauties. Soft and pretty, a feminine colour for a rug of posies.   Goes great with Lemon Drop.

Lemon Drop

This picture is a bit on the dull side as lemon drop is much more vibrant.  Perfect for any flower.  Yellow dresses on little girls.

Lime

What a fabulous warm colour!   We can't keep in on the shelf.  Makes for perfect foliage, grass and anything needing a shot of green. Jelly bean houses.


Majic Mix

This colour is definitely magical!  It is an intense background colour, a deep brownish taupe colour, delicious for backgrounds or borders.

Max Brown

An old favourite.  Perfect for William Morris Tapestry Lion.  Animals of all kinds this colour was created to match my German Shepherd, Max and thence the name! 

Mint

A cooler fresh colour as mint implies.  Perfect for leaves.  A rug that needs a bit of fun. 

Monsoon

Stormy seas, waters of any kinds, night sky.  Borders and backgrounds.  A rich heathery blue. 


Morning Glory

Such a sweet blue with violet undertones.  Perfect morning glory flowers, hydrangeas and all type of garden delights.  Jelly bean houses.

Mossy Green

Mossy Green is the warmest green we have.  Works perfectly in a garden situation.   Makes wonderful leaves.  Kermit would be happy; it's easy being green with this colour.  Hills, meadows, grass, parrots,  granny smith apples, backgrounds and so much more.

Navy

Lots of pigment in this one.  A rich dark navy, with cool undertones. Great for a night sky or dark waters.  A wonderful background for William Morris designs. 

Old Blue Eyes

Frankie's namesake and a  fabulous blue.  A favorite of the shop. Bodies of water, blue jays, blueberries and blue china. Forget-me-nots.  Your rug will sing with this one.


Peacock

Like the plumage on a peacock, this blue makes a statement.  It boasts a bit of nautical charm too. Use for flowers and geometric designs.

Peony

Soft antique dusty rose.  Great for backgrounds and borders. 

Pewter

A light to dark grey, almost black with blue undertones.  Good for all kinds of shading possibilities.   Birds, mammals, hair.

Purple Orchid

Queenston Red

A toned down red with an antique flair.  Great for a time worn Santa suit, bricks, all things Christmas, house paint, flowers and so much more.

Red Mahogany

A wonderful antique reddish brown. Great for bricks and houses, animals, geometrics and backgrounds or borders. 

Red Grape

An antique grape for fruit and flowers.  Backgrounds and borders. 

Rouge

A brighter red for those who like to add a bit of pizazz to their rugs.  Of course this suits Christmas to tee as well as fruits and flowers.   Jelly bean houses.


Royal Blue

This is my favorite blue.  Not hard to see why.  Such a rich blue and bold of colour.  Think Elvis and shoes!   This blue is a looker.  We dye this for bundles in the shop over various plaids and solids.  A must have blue for your stash. 

Saffron

Can you ever have enough yellow?  A rich deep yellow for a rug that needs to stand out.   A great candidate for Celtic knots designs.   A perfect pairing for Royal Blue and Crimson Red for a primary colour fusion.  Fruit and flowers.   

Sage Green

A very sophisticated green.  Works with everything.  Was used in Susan Leslie's William Morris Tapestry Lion for the numerous scrolls.  A very classy choice.

Sangria

A bit darker than Victorian Rose, a rich antique colour for apples, Christmas items and clothing.  Flowers as well.


Sapphire

This colour is a toned down, antique style of blue.  One of our  most popular sellers this one is hard to keep on the racks.  Can be used for flowers, water and skies, houses, eyes, backgrounds and borders. 

Shamrock

This green comes with the luck of the Irish.  A fun green with spirit.  No shrinking violet for sure, this green wants to be noticed.

What can you say about this colour that the names doesn't imply? 

Spruce Green

Picture
A lovely bluish green colour that goes well with all the jewel tones like Victorian Rose.  A rich green for Christmas pines and holiday dresses.


Straw

A cross between a bright yellow and gold.  This colour will make a great sun, blond hair, perfect compliment for a lovely blue.   Think happy and Straw will fit. 

Strawberry

Another yummy colour.  Think strawberries and a whole lot more.  A lovely orange/yellow based red. Day Lilies will come alive with this delightful colour. 

Tangelo

A fun name and a very pretty colour.  Great for all your garden needs.  Pumpkins will plump before your eyes  in your autumn inspired rugs.


Teal

Love these jewel tone colours.  Works so well with Victorian Rose for an old fashioned Christmas.  Wonder background to a jewel toned rug.  This colour is used in the Geckos rug for the grid outline for all those wonderful jewel toned colours. 


Victorian Rose

For a Victorian flair.  Rich colour for apples, Christmas items, clothing.  Use for wonderful  roses and posies.


Vintage Green

Vintage Green says it all.  This is the perfect green for a toned down rug to make it look like it's of an antique era.  Great for leaves and foliage.  Great for backgrounds and borders. 

Walnut

What a great brown.  I see this as animal fur, bark, hair, ground, backgrounds and borders.  This is the brown use in the Café Au Lait rug for the coffee bean and the background of the border.

Wild Rose

An antique rose for the aged Victorian look.  A lovely background or border.  Lovely for geometric style rugs.
