"Rug making is more than a just a craft...
.....it’s a passion!" In January 2000, I was introduced to the art of rug hooking. Smitten after pulling one square inch of loops, I hooked feverishly through the night and was oblivious to the sun coming up in the early morn. I kept the same pace for the next two nights, squeezing in short naps during the day and grabbing snacks to stave off the hunger. Within a little over a week I had completed my first, full sized rug and already had ideas for my second, a third, fourth.......... Having never experienced that kind of intrigue, obsession, or passion over a hobby before, I knew rug hooking and I were going to be soul mates. It literally changed my life, giving me an artistic outlet and an occupation in one fell swoop. Once the creative flood gates opened I was in business within a year selling original designs, which has led to the fabulous studio I have today. After what seems a mere blink of an eye it is now 2024…how time flies when you are dreaming about and pursuing your artistic desires! The shop continues to grow and is stocked from floor to ceiling with all kinds of hooking goodies. For all of you experienced, older hands, our doors are always open so drop in for inspiration, coffee and a chat about your latest project. For beginners, who wish to experience this wonderful craft, inquire about our class schedule so we can get you started. I teach an informative and fun filled three hour beginning class that focuses strictly on the technique of rug hooking. It covers proper loop formation by hooking straight lines, wavy lines and circles. Once you have these techniques down, there is no end to the rugs you can accomplish. An Invitation! Please join the “Main Street Hookers”, an enthusiastic group of women who meet at the studio between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month for fellowship, coffee, tea and sometimes a little Baileys? Rug hooking travelers, please join our group so we can get to know one another and continue to make it a small world! I am very proud to say that my son Shane, aka The Dye Guy, is an important part of our team, creating all those fabulous colours we are known for. Shane's hard work is what makes our dye books possible and keeps our shelves full. Happy Hooking! Christine Little |
